I was born into a Christian home and thankfully, still being raised in one. I was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran church and have always seen the influence of a Christian worldview in my life. I have moved four times and am about to move again because of my dad’s job. Because of this, it has always been hard for me to make good and lasting friendships wherever I move because they are usually torn away.
When we moved to NC and I came to LIFE, I was invited to come to StudentLIFE one night. I had no idea what a Youth Group was, I had never experienced one before, and no one had ever told me what it was. So, having grown up in formal church settings, I assumed it was some sort of Bible study and came in my polo shirt and khaki pants I had worn to church that morning. As you can imagine, it didn’t work out very well, especially when we started playing games like Gaga Ball. Besides that, I started to become a regular at StudentLIFE and soon became involved in volunteering with AVL /visual/lighting, which is how I got here. After being at StudentLIFE for a few months, I attended WildLIFE for 2022. On the last worship night there, I felt the presence of the Lord and came to accept him as my Lord and Savior. I chose to be baptized a few months later and truly make the decision for myself.
After being saved, I became interested in apologetics and took a class here to learn about it. After that I took a bit of a side route from mainstream apologetics and started to dig deep into Intelligent Design, and the most important thing that I have discovered is, above all things, humility. It is something that is missing from much of the talk is about Creation, especially and sadly, on the Christian side of things. While it’s true that an Orthodox Evolutionist isn’t going to be very humble either, we as Christians are supposed to be the “better man,, not let pride get the better of us. Ever since I came to this revelation, it has weighed on my heart as something I should share with all Christians, no matter if this is where your interests lie or not, it is applicable in all settings.
A verse that I frequently turn to is Philippians 2:5-8.
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross“
Philippians 2:5-8
This verse has constantly reminded me to stay humble and to be more like Jesus.
