This devotion written by Pratibha Dasari is based on the song “Firm Foundation” that we sing at LIFE Fellowship during congregational worship. Pratibha serves as a lighting technician on the AVL production team within the LIFE Worship ministry.
Some of the lines that stand out to me are:
My house is built on You
He’s never let me down
He’s faithful in every season
So why would He fail now
Singing this song is praising him but it also reminds me of who I stand on. When I think about a firm foundation, what comes to my mind is a foundation with strength, power, and sturdiness. In times of trouble and anxiety, I remember God’s characteristics and His blessings, how He has been a foundation and support. How his love is available to me, despite who I am, how he always came through. How he has blessed and changed my life. It’s written in Revelation 22:13 ESV, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” In Him is everything, and He loves us. When I’m in a tough situation and scared, I remember all my past blessings and remind myself that I’m not going through a problem with just my strength alone, God has shown Himself before; I’m not standing on a loose foundation, and my life is built on Him, a firm foundation. He will not fail me, and He cannot fail. He is the most powerful, the Alpha and the Omega who has loved us so much. We don’t have to fear. May He help us to remember His faithfulness!
